Map of Assyrian Villages
The map of the Assyrian villages has been created by late Rabi Yonan Petros of Moshawa. Rabi Yona devoted many years of his life in researching and creating this map. May he rest in peace.
The map displays all the contemporary villages of the Assyrians in Assyrian heartland, an area covering northwest Iran, southern Turkey (Hakkari), and northern Iraq. Assyrians have been residing in this land for thousands of years, and self-governing themselves until the Genocide of 1914 in which Turkey and the Kurdish tribes took the lives of 750,000 Assyrians. Geographically, the area lies between latitude 38.3° and 42° N, and longitudes 37° and 46° E.
The map symbols, measurement scale, and Rabi Yonan's notes are located at the bottom of the map.
