Assyrians to hold gathering in front of UN office in Tehran

Tehran, Aug 6, IRNA – A number of Iran's Assyrian nationals are to hold a gathering in front of the United Nations office in Tehran in protest at the situation of Muslims in Iraq, Gaza and Syria on Thursday, Secretary General of the International Association of Assyrians Yonathan Betkolia said on Wednesday.

The gathering will coincide with protest gatherings of Assyrian Christians across the world at 11: 00 AM local time.

Earlier on Tuesday, Betkolia blasted US silence regarding crimes committed by the Daesh terrorist group also known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) against minority groups in Iraq and Syria.

He noted that those who accuse Iran of violating minorities' rights are keeping mum on massacre of several members of minority groups in Iraq and Syria by Daesh terrorist group.
